The content and the submitter increase your chances in Digg
Most of webmasters do social bookmarking, and know about Digg.com, you see many success stories over the net about generating lots of traffic from digg.com by beeing listed in the front page, but how to get the front page of digg? Here I’ll shed lights on the content & the submitter factors to increase your chances to success on Digg (But nothing guarented)!
1. The content:
I think it’s the most important thing in the whole website is the content, so in my opinion if there’s one factor that can influence the success of a post on Digg it is the actual content that is submitted. You see poeple have no success with Digg, and when you check the posts submitted, they’re just all wrong.
Well, below some type of content that works on Digg, so I recommend you people to follow it:
– Topics: You have to avoid to write about the less popular topics, for example if you write about a cat or dog, I don’t think it would work on Digg, from the other hand if you write about Tech, Offbeat or some Entertainment stories.. It can work really well, but think carefully about how you present it, as I believe that the presentation has a big role on the quality of posts.
– Voice: One way to rank well for a more obscure topic is to write your post in a style that grabs attention and appeals to the Digg crowd. They’re a bunch that likes humor, irreverence and quirky stuff – so if you’re writing on cats you would do better to do something off the wall like strap a camera to one than to write about something more serious.
– Titles: I’d recommend you people to take time to get the titles right, because sadly, many of stories get voted up and down on Digg and simply based up their title.
– Page Layout: Make sure that you have a good looking layout for your blog/site, avoid to stuff it with ads, remove/change the poor quality pictures, they can work well.
– Format: According to some experienced bloggers and diggers, they say thebest way to get on the front page of Digg is to write “list” posts, I agree but writing a comprehensive article this can also appeal.
2. The submitter:
If there’s one factor that can influence the success of a post on Digg it is the person who submits your post to Digg.
From talking to hardcore Diggers there are two theories going around in how to approach who should submit your Diggs (and these theories change depending upon what Digg is doing with their Algorithm:
Power Diggers: You need to find a power Digger to submut your posts for you, this will help your story to get seen by his friends and voted up quickly, and that helps a lot.
Small Time Diggers: It’s to have posts submitted by lesser known Diggers. The theory here is that it can take these Diggers less votes to get to the front page while a Power Digger can take a lot more.

digg is so popular, but somehow people posting these just wanted for link and traffics. There are so many duplicated contents on digg, but it’s okay.
do you think digg is better than del.ico.us ?

Digg is an awesome site, but you are right, your content needs to actually have substance or be viral. Also, the headline is everything.

I’m fairly new at driving traffic to my website and the like. I’ve never actually used Digg.com.
Does google value ‘diggs’ you get for any article submitted there quite highly?

Digg yes is very good for the niche posts, like the ones you mentioned. You are pretty doomed if you are not of those niches they like. I have had greater success with redditt.

Digg is popular because the site receives thousands of visitors within minutes. This help to increase traffics. It increase your rankings in the search engines and page views. It is also a marketing tactic to promote your website.

I hate headlines that confuse me. I think the headline should be more precise.

Yes, Digg can work, but it’s a firehose effect. AdSense and other pay-per-click programs rank such traffic very low, and give a poor eCPM. Digg is good for building brand, gaining recognition, and bringing in new visitors.
The trick is to have something on your site that makes those random visitors bookmark the site, subscribe to it, or otherwise come back again.
Analytics is a good way to track this effect and tweak content, Digg timing (there are arguments about what is the best time of day to Digg something), and optimize ads.

I don’t think it is possible to get targeted traffic from Digg now since most of Digg visitors are webmasters/SEO trying to increase their SE rankings.
